Do I need an account to use PainlessPDF?
No. You can open PainlessPDF directly in your browser without sign-up.
What can I do with a PDF here?
PainlessPDF is built for everyday document work: edit existing text when the PDF supports it, add or reposition images, reorder pages, rotate or delete pages, and handle common PDF cleanup tasks in one place.
Where is my PDF stored while I work?
The current document can be saved in browser storage on your own device so the editor can restore your session. When server-side processing is needed, the app creates a temporary PDF session and clears inactive server sessions automatically after about an hour.
How are uploads handled securely?
Uploaded files are processed only for the action you requested. The app uses TLS in transit, plus access controls and infrastructure monitoring around the service.
Why is some PDF text read-only?
Text editing works best when the PDF already contains selectable text. Scanned pages and some PDFs with unsupported text encoding can still open normally, but those text blocks may stay read-only.
What file sizes are supported?
The conversion, compression, and split tools support files up to 50MB. The full in-browser editor currently handles files up to 1MB. No account or subscription is required.
Does the editor work on mobile?
Not yet. The full editor currently requires a modern desktop browser, and mobile support is planned for the future.
